EMPLOYERS  CAN  RECEIVE  REIMBURSEMENT

FOR TRAINING

NEW  EMPLOYEES  THROUGH ON-THE-JOB TRAINING

(OJT)/SUBSIDIZED EMPLOYMENT PROGRAM.

The Workforce Investment Act of 1998 (WIA) offers many activities and services to targeted groups to enable them to find and retain meaningful employment.  On-the-Job Training  (OJT) are activities which are designed to provide knowledge or skills essential to the full and adequate performance of the job and provides reimbursement to the employer of up to 50 percent of the wage rate of the client, for the extraordinary costs of providing the training and additional supervision related to the training; and is limited to the duration as appropriate to the occupation for which the client is being trained.  The On-the-Job Training is an incentive for employers to hire new employees by providing a partial wage reimbursement for a determined period of time.
